True to its name, Natura Beach Hotel has a strong environmental ethos and has received the Business Tourism Sustainability Award.
Design:
The hotel’s characteristic low-profile architecture and the distance from the beach reflect our commitment to preserving the natural surroundings.
Water conservation:
A separate piping network supplies groundwater for lavatories, saving drinking water. This water is also used for irrigating our plantations and herb gardens. All wastewater is biologically treated on-site and reused for irrigation purposes. As part of our commitment to the environment, we kindly invite guests to consider using their towels for more than one day. This small gesture, along with being mindful of water use, helps us reduce consumption and protect one of Cyprus’ most precious resources.
Energy conservation:
Solar panels provide hot water for most of the year, and our photovoltaic system meets a significant share of our electricity needs. All eight swimming pools are filtered using solar-powered pumps. Energy-efficient bulbs are used throughout the hotel, and air-conditioning units automatically switch off when balcony doors are not fully closed. Air-conditioning and lighting in the rooms also switch off when the key card is removed from the slot.
Recycling:
Reuse and recycling are amongst the priorities of the Natura. Organic waste is composted for use in our vegetable gardens, while paper, metal, glass, and plastic are all recycled.
Wildlife:
Our beach is a nesting site for Caretta Caretta and Chelonia Mydas sea turtles. Nests are monitored and protected, and we are encouraged by the fact that numbers have been on the rise. For this reason, we avoid bright lighting and excessive watersports to safeguard them.
Our Estate
The Natura Beach Hotel stands on a family-owned agricultural estate that has been cultivated for generations.
Our orchards and gardens, which surround the hotel, supply most of the fruit and vegetables used in our kitchen. Over 800 citrus trees provide fresh, organic juice and fruit for much of the year, while nearly 500 olive trees yield thousands of litres of organic extra virgin olive oil annually, along with delicious olives used extensively by our chef. Depending on the season, guests are welcome to join in olive and orange harvesting. Other trees on the estate include figs, pomegranates, bananas, and palm trees to mention a few.
Our organic vegetable garden, located on the east side of the estate, meets nearly all of our kitchen’s needs year-round. This diverse harvest appears in our salads, side dishes, and many vegetarian specialties. Nearby the tennis court, our organic herb garden offers unique Mediterranean aromas for our cuisine and a variety of healthy herbal infusions. We also maintain a small animal farm with goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and ducks, providing fresh free-range eggs and milk for our halloumi cheese and anari.
